Aku Orang Terengganu. So What?

This morning, while I was having my breakfast… Urgh. Not really breakfast. My friend bought me fruits. Good for health. So I ate an apple. An apple a day takes the doctor away… *Sigh.

OK. Here is the conversation between me and N.

N: Aku ke Uptown dengan Nickos semalam.

Aing: Hmm…

N: I heard this woman spoke. She is Sarawakian. I got excited.

*Aing still listening. She nodded.

N: Sarawakian sik? Aku excited. Aku tegur dia.

Aing: Tapi… (as if could guess what would happen next)

N: Yup. She looked at me and said nothing. OMG! Muka dia ada question mark besar. (Angry)

Aing: Hmm…

N: Nickos said that these people are ashamed of where they come from. This is not my first time.

Aing: Oh. I see… Bukan orang Sarawak je malu nak mengaku dia Sarawak. Classmate aku ni, orang Kelantan. Dia tengah sembang ngan Sara after class IOK. Budak Literature.
Siti mesti kenal.

N: Dah lama aku tak jumpa Siti. Mesti dia banyak cerita kan.

*Out of topic for a few seconds.

Aing brought in the story back.

Aing: Sara tanya dia, “Aren’t you going back?”. Aku tak tahu kenapa diorang melebat in English.

N: Ok.

Aing: Dia cakap, "No, I won't".
N: Aha

Aing: "Where are you from?" Tanya Sara. And he said, "Kelantan". Aku pun excited. Aku tak tahu kenapa. Bila jumpa orang Kelantan atau Terengganu, aku akan excited. Maybe sebab share sama bahasa. And sebab aku ada mak angkat kat sana. Kedah pun.
Sebab aku pernah belajar sana.

N: Oh. Of course. Same goes here.

Aing: Aku tanya, "Which part of Kelantan?" Dia cakap Machang. Then, aku cakap, "Kito jighe. I’m from Terengganu". And.. He said, "Why do you consider myself as your neighbour. We are not even in a same team for football. Kelantan and Terengganu. It is too far". Muka sinis as if aku ni asabiyyah kot.

N: WTF

Aing: Aku geram dan sedikit malu so aku cakap, "I am talking about border. Kelantan and Terengganu. When people say they are from Kuantan, I will consider themselves as my neighbours also. So, if you are not my neighbour so stay away and we are not friends". Mashi ngan Sara ketawa. Sara sambung. "Enemy, enemy".

N: Dia?

Aing: Dia cakap, "If we are talking about the border, we are neighbours". Aku buat muka Whaattever! Lepas tu attempted to have conversation with me. Aku bolayan. Dia guna English je. Aku tak tahu kenapa. Aku pernah dengar dia cakap Melayu. Ada slang Kelantan sikit. Malu kot. Kalau aku, aku tak kisah. Who cares.

N: Some people do care but just be yourself.

Aing: Yup. Even, kalau aku di UK. Aku jumpa Indonesian, aku akan excited.

N: Yes. Because we share the language.

Aing: Betul betul betul. Tabah.

Be proud of yourself.

I am positive today. *Smile
